The Pan-Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera, based in Qatar, which has been a key mediator in the ceasefire negotiations, called Trump's comments a "shock announcement."

In a statement, Hamas condemned the proposal, saying, "Instead of holding the Zionist occupation responsible for the crime of genocide and displacement, it is rewarded and not punished." They added, "We reject Trump's statement that there is no way out for the residents of Gaza but to leave. We consider such suggestions as a recipe for creating chaos and unrest in the region."
